Celebration in Toronto of the 50th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

CANADA, December 31st, 2008. The Canada-Cuba Friendship Association (CCFA) organized a reception in the city of Toronto for around 100 people, in representation of the main organizations of solidarity with Cuba in the region, in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. At this reception, Elizabeth Hill, president of CCFA, delivered speeches addressed to both the Cuban president, Raúl Castro Ruz and to the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Ricardo Alarcón, acknowledging the accomplishments of our Revolution during these 50 years of struggle. Jorge Soberón, Consul General of Cuba in the city of Toronto, thanked all the friends gathered to celebrate such an important historical date and highlighted the importance of solidarity to the struggles the Cuban people overcomes everyday. At midnight, all participants got together to sign the National Anthem of Cuba and toasted to the Cuban Revolution. (CUBAMINREX-EmbaCubaCanadá)
