Cuban Residents in Saint Lucia Commemorate the 51st Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution
Saint Lucia, 24th January, 2010: Following an initiative of the Association of Cuban Residents in Saint Lucia and The Saint Lucia – Cuba Humanistic Solidarity Association, the 51st Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution was commemorated yesterday at Pigeon Island; a site declared by UNESCO as a Historic National Landmark. At the event, there were members of the Association of Cuban Residents in Saint Lucia, members of the Saint Lucia – Cuba Humanistic Solidarity Association, Saint Lucian graduates of Cuba, traditional friends of Cuba, as well as representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the country and the Brigade of Cuban Collaborators who render their services to the people of the island.
At the activity, Taimi Beatriz Martinez del Toro, President of the Association of Cuban Residents in Saint Lucia and Maurice Moffat, Public Relations Director of the Saint Lucia – Cuba Humanistic Solidarity Association both made speeches. Both orators highlighted the tradition which brings on the celebration of the date with proper initiatives that emanate from the different forces and sectors that are in solidarity with the Cuban people and its revolution. A minute of silence was observed in tribute to the victims of the earthquake which occurred in our sister country of Haiti.
The activity then became cultural and recreational and was reported by Radio St. Lucia and the News Broadcast on DBS Television Station.
