Former Jamaican Prime Minister sends congratulatory message on the occasion of the 52 anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
JAMAICA, February 3, 2011.- The Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica received a letter from Portia Simpson Miller, former Prime Minister of Jamaica and current PNP President, who conveyed a congratulatory message to President Raul Castro and the people of Cuba, on the occasion of the 52 Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution.
In her letter, the PNP President reasserts her solidarity with Cuba and recalls that January 1, 1959, has become a day of significant symbolism in our region. She added that, despite the external challenges, the Government and the people of Cuba have offered cooperation to neighbouring countries along five decades, which is a example of true friendship and internationalism which have brought countless benefits both for Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, other Caribbean countries and nations in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
She also especially mentioned the cooperation Cuba has been offering Haiti in the health sector, mainly in the wake of last year’s January 12 earthquake.
Former Prime Minister Portia Simpson ended her message conveying a fraternal greeting to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and President Raul Castro Ruz. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Jamaica)
