Cuban Five Present Key Documents.

UNITED STATES, March 22, 2011.- The recent documents presented by two of the five anti-terrorist fighters now imprisoned in the US, known as the Cuban Five, show clearly the manipulation of their trial and their innocence, said activist Gloria de la Riva here Tuesday.

In a telephone interview with Prensa Latina, de la Riva (a member of the National Committee for the Release of the Cuban Five) said the affidavit delivered by Gerardo Hernandez to the Miami Federal Court "shows his irrefutable innocence" in one of the charges against him.

De la Riva said that in the text, Hernandez explained in his own words, for the first time, his total innocence of the false charges and the unfair sentence for conspiracy to commit murder.

In this document, Hernandez details and clears up facts and data on the accusation for the downing of one of the planes used by terrorist organization Brothers to the Rescue in 1996.

The legal summary presented by Antonio Guerrero is a memorandum supporting the revocation of the sentence affecting the Cuban Five.

The memorandum is a text with 25 pages mainly concentrated in the recent discovery of a media campaign against the Cuban Five, organized by the US government and journalists from Miami, Florida.

Several influential journalists in Miami received dozens of thousands of dollars from the federal administration to attack the Cuban Five in Radio and TV Marti, the anti-Castro radio and TV stations, propaganda channels against the Cuban Revolution, and other newspapers and stations.

De la Riva pointed out in the press conference that the lawyers of the Cuban Five showed it was a political process against the Caribbean island and that the Cuban Five were defending their own nation.

Fernando Gonzalez, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and René Gonzalez were arrested in the US in 1998, while they were informing the Cuban authorities on the actions of terrorist organizations based in Miami. (Cubaminrex-PL)
