René González Ratifies Strength of the Cuban Five

CUBA, July 14, 2009.  René González said he and his four companions unjustly incarcerated in the United States remain firm.

His wife, Olga Salanueva, told the press on Tuesday that, while participating in an activity for the release of The Five and against terrorism, on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the founding of the Museum to The Battle of Ideas, she could speak with René, who once again thanked his people for its solidarity.

René asked her to congratulate the museum on his behalf, and reiterated the conviction of the Five to continue resisting, since sooner or later justice will be done, thanks to the actions of the Cuban people and of millions of friends from around the world.

During a meeting with students from the Latin American School of Medicine in central Matanzas province, Salanueva made a call to expand the international movements of solidarity in the case of the five anti-terrorists.

She explained that it’s necessary to multiply actions so more people join the demand of their release, since the US media outlets silence their case.

“It’s necessary to spread the message of Cubans in the struggle for truth, and, more than that, to multiply it to obtain the final victory with their return to their homeland”, Salanueva told the doctors-to-be.

On Tuesday, relatives of the Five participated, along with the people of Cárdenas, in different activities to mark the anniversary of the Museum, created by Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro on July 14, 2001.

The center’s main hall is devoted to the unjust trial carried out against Gerardo Hernández, René González, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando González, who have been confined to US jails for over a decade now. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
