Terrorism: The True Face.

CUBA, July 7th, 2011.- At the end of June and in harmony with International Day in Support of the Victims of Torture, the relatives of the Cuban Five incarcerated since 1998 in the US for fighting terrorism, once again denounced before the international community the arbitrary treatment that Ramon, Gerardo, Rene, Fernando and Antonio are facing in prison.

During an encounter held in Havana, the speakers talked about the restrictive measures imposed on the five anti terrorism fighters, the legal manipulations and dirty management regarding their trial, unjustified punishment they have suffered in their federal penitentiaries and the US government refusal for family contacts. 

The US government´s way of doing things, while fomenting wars in the name of fighting international terrorism, they do not doubt in practicing the policy of genocide, protecting their agents ordered to kill and brutally attack those that oppose them.

There is no other reason why Washington is treating the case of the Cuban Five in such a manner whose dignified attitude is a permanent challenge to the arrogance of those that detained them.

This situation can come to an end if US President Barack Obama would show his real attachment to justice and interest in at least hiding the true face of the empire’s tricks.

That side of the face is well known in the world also expressed in the recently concluded international anti terrorist conference held in Teheran,  with the presence of delegates from 60 countries, among them Cuba.

During the debates, participants made it very clear that terrorism has constituted and continues to be one of the favorite weapons of the powerful nations in order to impose its will against the peoples of the world.  It results as embarrassing for the rich to call their adversaries who are only attempting to achieve their independence and future, assassins with the use of the media outlets as their main weapon.

Meanwhile, jurists from 11 countries which recently met in Havana during a specialized seminar said in the meeting that “the excuse to fight terrorism has become an argument for some powerful nations to invade others and increase the use of force in flagrant violation to modern international law”.

   Summarizing: campaigns and distortions that Washington and its allies plan regarding terrorism does not fool anyone and in any case reasserts the fact that the empire will not stop their barbaric methods in order to impose themselves on the rest of humanity. (Cubaminrex-ACN)
