Cuban Ambassador talked to “Leadership” about the Cuban Five
NIGERIA, December 3, 2009.- During an exclusive interview with the Leadership newspaper the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria Elio Savón Oliva talked about the situation of the Cuban Five (five Cuban unjustly imprisoned in the US) and explained that they were in the US trying avert terrorist acts against Cuba and in so doing helping to protect also American citizen’s lives.
The diplomat talked about the history of aggression against Cuba by terrorist elements based in the US and with the complicity of the US government staging different acts of sabotage as the blowing up of a civilian aircraft in 1976 where all 73 passengers and crew were killed as well as many attempts to kill Cuban leaders.
The Ambassador referred to the fact that after 11 years of unjust imprisonment the Cuban five are firm in their principles and plea of innocence and a vast solidarity movement for their liberation has developed all over the world.
He also said that during these 11 years the US government has refused to give visas to the wives of two of the five to visit them in the US prisons. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Nigeria)
