People in French Basque Country Demand End of US Blockade against Cuba

CUBA, March 2, 2010. -  Residents of Bayona, a city of the French Basque County, rejected the lack of political will of American president Barack Obama to put an end to the economic, financial and commercial blockade of his country against Cuba.

In a meeting held in that city of the country constituted by the North-Eastern part of the Basque Country and the Western part of the French department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the Solidarity-with-Cuba Committee criticized as well the inclusion of the island nation in the US list of the so-called terror-sponsor countries, says a report by Prensa Latina news agency.

Committee President Annie Arroyo condemned the fact that no executive order in favor of the release of Cuban antiterrorists Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez, unfairly imprisoned in the United States.

Cuban ambassador Orlando Requeijo thanked the active work of the solidarity-with-Cuba movement in the defense from unfair policies and actions that generate an unjust international order. (Cubaminrex - acn)
