Solidarity with the Cuban Five in the Bahamas

CUBA, September 3rd,2010.- The Tribune newspaper, printed in Nassau, in the Bahamas, reproduced an article with pictures by the Cuban News Agency (AIN) on The Five, on the occasion of the beginning of a campaign of solidarity for their release.

The newspaper gives details on the situation of the five Cuban antiterrorists unfairly incarcerated in the United States for 12 years now, as well as on the circumstances in which the arrest of Gerardo Hernandez, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and René Gonzalez took place.

According to a report by Prensa Latina news agency, the newspaper criticized the arbitrary trial the Cuban heroes were subjected to in a locality as hostile and aggressive as Miami, the center of the main counterrevolutionary and terrorist actions against the Cuban people.

Tribune comments that the re-sentencing process of some of them is a tacit recognition of the injustice committed when they were condemned, although that doesn’t mean that justice is being served, as Cuban ambassador to Nassau, Jose Luis Ponce, told Prensa Latina.

The newspaper also looks back at the terrorist actions committed against the Cuban Revolution by groups based in US territory. In that regard, it recalls that notorious terrorist Luis Posada Carriles is free in Miami, in spite of being wanted by the Cuban and Venezuelan justice for his criminal actions, which resulted in a long list of victims.

The Bahamas is an archipelago located on the western side of the Atlantic, and it stretches from the Florida coasts down to the north of Cuba and Haiti, with 22 inhabited islands, 700 uninhabited and some 2,000 cays. (Cubaminrex - ACN)
