Solidarity Movement Calls to Use Social Networks in Fight for the Cuban Five

CUBA, August 12th, 2010.-
The Cuba-Venezuela Mutual Solidarity Movement called to make better use of modern information technologies, particularly social networks, in the campaign for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States.

Caracas coordinator Johnny Garcia told PL that social internet networks like Twitter and Facebook could be better used to raise awareness on the justness of the Cuban Five’s cause.

Garcia said those are the main weapons in the fight for the freedom of the Cuban patriots. He added that the effectiveness of the international campaign in favor of the case was recently proved with the removal of Gerardo Hernandez from the isolation cell.

Hernandez, one of the Cuban Five, had been sent to “the hole” without having infracted the rules of the prison he is in.

Garcia said international solidarity freed Hernandez from the hole and assured that it will also put an end to the injustice committed against the Cuban Five.

“We are sure that very soon we will see Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez with their families and their people, we are working on it,” he noted.

The activist stressed that the Cuban Five didn’t commit any crime, they were just trying to neutralize hardliner groups established in the US that planned and conducted terrorist activities against Cuba. (Cubaminrex - ACN)
