The Cuban Five Thank Dominicans for their Support.

CUBA, October 22, 2010.- The five Cubans unfairly incarcerated in the United States sent a letter to the Dominican people, in which they express their appreciation for its permanent solidarity.

"From our cells, on the occasion of the Cuban culture fiesta, we send Dominicans the expression of our deepest feelings of rejoiced gratitude", reads the text.

The Five Heroes expressed their appreciation for the attitude of that people towards them, reflected on the resolution approved by their country’s Senate, demanding justice to be served in their case.

"An act of abandonment that would be unworthy of your noble support will never come from us," continues the letter, written by Rene Gonzalez on behalf of the rest of his companions - Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez-, Prensa Latina news agency reported.

The letter was read by Cuban ambassador Juan Astiasaran during a meeting to celebrate Cuban Culture Day, held at the auditorium of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo.

Also participating in the meeting were Dominican Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Guiliani and senators Felix Nova and Dario Cruz, among other personalities.
