Chilean Activists Ask U.S. President to Release the Cuban Five

CUBA, July 29, 2010.-  Members of the ¨Movimiento Pueblo Sin Techo,¨ or ¨Population without a Roof Movement,¨ from Chile, asked U.S. President Barack Obama to free the Cuban Five, who are unjustly imprisoned in U.S. jails. The members of the solidarity organization sent letters to the U.S. embassy in Santiago de Chile, in which they request the release of Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González, and René González.

Local Chilean press is covering Antonio Guerrero´s sister, María Eugenia Guerrero´s visit to Chile, in which she will speak about the case of the Cuban Five at the Human Rights and Exterior Relations commission in Valparaíso. María Eugenia Guerrero will also meet with law students and other Chilean/Cuban solidarity organizations. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
