Sao Paulo Youth Forum Calls for Freedom of the Cuban Five.
ARGENTINA, August 23, 2010.- Participants at the Second Sao Paulo Youth Forum demanded the immediate liberation of five Cuban men serving lengthy sentences in the United States for fighting US-born terrorism against Cuba.
The request was included in the final declaration of the forum, which was attended this year by 64 organizations from 16 countries.
In addition to demanding the release of the Cuban Five —Fernando González, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero and René González—, the forum protested the unfair blockade of Cuba by the United States.
This policy of besiege implemented over almost half a century by successive US administration is a flagrant violation of international right, the declaration reads.
