Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association issues a Statement demanding the release of our Heroes

JAMAICA, September 9, 2011.- Early this month of September, the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association circulated a statement informing about the beginning of the 6th International Campaign of Solidarity with the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in U.S. jails.

In the aforementioned Statement, signed by the Coordinator of the Committee to Free the Five, it is stated that this campaign receives the support of other committees existing in more than 100 countries, including the United States itself. It is also added that this international campaign seeks to expose the double standard of the U.S legal system which jailed the Five Cubans, but allows confessed terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to remain free.

The Statement also lashes the media silence surrounding the case, mainly, in the world’s major mass media; while the decision of the U.S. government not to grant visas to Adriana and Olga to visit their respective husbands, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez is labelled as inhumane.

This Statement was sent to Jamaica’s leading mass media. (Cubaminrex/Embacuba Jamaica)
