Meeting in Mexico in Solidarity with Cuba and The Five.

CUBA, March 12, 2011.- The promotion of new campaigns for the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorists incarcerated in the United States is one of the purposes of the 16th National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba under way in Mexico.

The Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba called all social and political organizations and Mexicans and foreigners living in the capital to the meeting that has the Workers University of the Mexican Federal District as its venue.

The main purpose of the meeting is to agree actions for the lifting of the blockade against the Caribbean island and for the release of Cuban heroes Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez and Rene Gonzalez.

It will also coordinate efforts to spread the achievements of the Cuban Revolution, and the aid it has given, in solidarity, to many peoples of the world, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.

Scheduled for Saturday is a keynote lecture by deputy Tubal Paez, president of the Association of Cuban Journalists, who will speak about the current situation in his country, the challenges it’s facing, and the ongoing debates on the updating of the Cuban economic model.

Likewise, it will dedicate one of its sessions to preparations for the 6th Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, programmed for Mexico City from October 6th through the 9th.

The text of the call points out that, with this invitation, organizers aspire to contribute to the commitment of strengthening the bonds of friendship and fraternity with the Republic of Cuba, a universal reference -it states- of dignity and resistance in the face of the threats of the empire.
