Solidarity with The Five in Denmark and Nicaragua.

CUBA, March 29, 2011.- Irma Gonzalez, daughter of Rene Gonzalez, one of The Five, had a fraternal meeting with representatives of the solidarity-with-Cuba movement in Copenhagen, during her visit to Denmark.

Attending the meeting, held at the Cuban embassy, were political leaders and intellectuals, as well as representatives of Cubans living in Denmark, among others, according to Cuban diplomatic sources in that Scandinavian country.

On the occasion, Cuban ambassador Guillermo Vazquez inaugurated an exhibition of posters on the Five Cuban Heroes, organized with the support of the Salvador Allende Group, which is part of the solidarity-with-Cuba movement in that Nordic nation. A posthumous tribute was paid to late US jurist Leonard Weinglass, a tireless fighter for the cause of the five Cuban antiterrorists, and a man who devoted his life to all the just causes of the US people.

Irma and her accompanying delegation held exchanges with the public, an opportunity in which the solidarity with and support for the release of the of Rene, as well as of Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez, internationally known as The Five, was made quite clear.

The release of the Cuban antiterrorists, unfairly imprisoned in the US for over 12 years now, was also demanded by the Congress of Sandinista Women (Congreso de Mujeres Sandinistas), held in Boca de Sabalo, Departament of Rio San Juan, in Nicaragua.

The statement demands the US the release of the Cuban heroes, incarcerated for defending the freedom and sovereignty of the Cuban people against the actions carried out by Florida-based mafia terrorist groups, the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported.

The document, given to Cuba’s ambassador to Nicaragua, Eduardo Martínez, also expresses the appreciation of the Nicaraguan people for the solidarity and support received from the government and people of the Republic of Cuba. (Cubaminrex-AIN)
