St Vincent and the Grenadines´solidarity with the Cuban Five.

ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES, September 20, 2011 .- The theater “Peace Memorial Hall”, in Kingstown hosted  the central activity of Solidarity with the Cuban  Five Heroes, on the occasion of the 13 years of their unjust imprisonment.  The event was chaired by the Cuban Ambassador Pablo  Antonio Rodríguez Vidal and  by the highest authorities of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, headed by Mrs. Girlyn Miguel, acting Prime Minister and Minister of Education, which joined the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Consumer Affairs Dr. Douglas Slater, the Minister of National Mobilization, People with Disabilities, Family, Sports and Culture, Mr. Frederick Stephenson and the Minister of National Reconciliation,  Mr. Maxwell Charles; the Permanent Secretary of the Chancellery, Mr. Andreas Wickham, the former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Sir Louis Straker and Lady Linda Straker, and the Former Minister of Culture,  Dr. René Mercedes Baptiste;  the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Colin Williams, and the businessman Mr.Ken Boyea among other senior figures of the country.

Speeches were pronounced by the Ambassador of Cuba, whose words were focused on the current stage of the process of the Heroes, and for the President of the National Committee of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the Liberation of the Cuban Five, the renowned attorney Parnel Campbell, Queen's Counsel, who conducted a thorough explanation of the case law of the Five and their humanitarian implications. There were also messages of support and commitment to act by the following organizations: Association of Cuban Residents in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines "Juan Almeida Bosque, read by Ms. Arianna Duharte Israel, President; Association of Graduates in Cuba (VINCUPA), read by Mr. Ezra Ledger, President; and the Vincentian Association of Cultural Artists, Writers and Producers - Friends of Cuba, read by its President and Chairman Dr. René Mercedes Baptiste. Were sent also messages by the Association of Parents of Scholars in Cuba and the Association of Friendship and Solidarity SVG - Cuba.

In the activity - which included the presence of a large audience, including the Diplomatic Corps, artists and intellectuals, eminent jurists, businessmen, Cuban collaborators, members of the Cuban community in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the general public - was presented a video clip “Free them” by the Barbadian singer and composer Anthony "Mighty Gabby" Carter and  a documentary film "Will the real terrorist, please stand up", by the American filmmaker Saul Landau, both which received a standing ovation from the audience.
