HAVANA, Cuba, May 23, 2011.- Two of the wives of the five Cuban antiterrorists, unjustly imprisoned in the U.S. since 1998, Olga Salanueva and Adriana Perez participated in a workshop of solidarity held in Jamaica within the context of a Peace International Forum.

The workshop, sponsored by the World Council of Churches (WCC), took place at the University of the Western Indies, and was chaired by Cuban parliamentarian Ofelia Ortega, who is the president of the CWW for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The wives of Rene Gonzalez and Gerardo Hernandez, Olga and Adriana, respectively, updated the participants on the present legal status of these antiterrorists –– internationally known as the Cuban Five.

Gerardo, Rene, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, and Ramon Labañino were unjustly imprisoned for trying to prevent terrorist actions against Cuba by Miami-based right wing groups, and were sentenced to harsh terms
that range from 15 years imprisonment up to two life terms plus 15 years.

Also present at the event were the Cuban ambassador to Jamaica, Yuri Gala Lopez, and other Cuban diplomatic officials in Kingston. (Cubaminrex-ACN)
