Cuban Enterprises to Participate in ALBA Business Meeting

CUBA, October 15, 2009. Eight Cuban enterprises participate in the First ALBA Meeting on Complementary Goods beginning this Thursday in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Prensa Latin reported that among the Cuban enterprises taking part in the event are Suchel Camacho (cosmetics), Copextel (commercialization of high-tech electronic equipment), Labiofam (pharmaceutical labs), Polos Científicos (scientific group) and Alimport (food importer).

Odalys Seijo, vice president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, told PL that the event includes a fair and a business round as part of the 7th ALBA Summit. She said the Cuban enterprises will have the opportunity to strengthen relations with companies from other participating countries and to diversify cooperation.

“We’ll take advantage of the presence of representatives from Bolivia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda to present Cuba’s export potential and its import interests,” Feijo said.

The meeting will run until next Saturday with a broad range of products on showcase like food and beverages, textiles, confections, wood and its derived products, handicrafts, jewelry, medicines, computer products and tourism.

Feijo also told PL that Cuba is looking to hold an exchange meeting with the chambers of commerce of Bolivia and of other ALBA countries.

She added that they will take the opportunity to invite all the member nations of the bloc to participate in the International Trade Fair of Havana, slated for next November. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
