The Paths of Integration Lead to ALBA
CUBA, February 6, 2007.- Latin American integration will sooner or later lead to ALBA (the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas), Argentine University Prof. Jaime Fuchs assured on Tuesday.
Speaking at the ninth International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development, Fuchs said that, in the end, ALBA should be the way for all peoples.
That program is not only rooted in economics, but emphasizes social problems, he noted.
Fuchs highlighted the integration progress MERCOSUR (Southern Common Market) has emphasized in recent Summit meetings, accentuated with the incorporation of Venezuela to the group.
The media publishes the points of disagreement, rather than the important and profitable agreements, such as those signed with Cuba, he expressed.
Such accords, he added, also represent a way to stop Washington s blockade of the isle.
Fuchs made a call for alertness, as integration progress will always have opposition from those who represent the interests of imperialism.
The meeting, with the participation of almost 1,500 delegates from 43 countries, 27 international organisms and 16 colleges of economists, was inaugurated on Monday by Cuban National Association of Economists and Accountants President Roberto Verrier. (Cubaminrex- PL).
