Suriname January 20, 2009. The Cuban athletic trainer Oriol Hernandez Blanco arrived in Suriname at the end of November 2008, and now he is working with athletic coaches of several teams in Paramaribo, and other districts. The directorate of Sport Affairs in Suriname has implemented the policy to upgrade the level of several sports by hiring Cuban coaches and trainers. As part of this policy after signing a contract with Cuba, the Cuban athletic trainer Oriol Hernandez Blanco is in Suriname. The work of Oriol was recently discussed with the board of the Surinamese Athletics Federation, headed by Oswald Elmont. In this meeting long term cooperation with the Federation was discussed because there are plans to ire more athletics trainers from Cuba.
