SURINAME, February 2, 2009. Three health professionals, all members of the Cuban Medical Brigade working in Suriname, presented and defended their master thesis in sessions held at the Ministry of Public Health of Suriname from 29 -30 January, 2008. These three doctors are members of Column No 1 ‘José Marti’ of the Cuban Medical Brigade and their work in Suriname is part of the Integral Health Program that Cuba offers to this country. Doctor Celsius Waterberg, Minister of Public Health of Suriname, and the Cuban ambassador to Suriname, Andrés González Garrido presided over the sessions. Doctor Alexis Hernandez Sanchez, in charge of scientific activities of the Cuban Medical Brigade, stated that they dedicated the sessions, the first of their kind held by the Brigade in Suriname, to the 156th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban national hero José Marti, which was celebrated on January 28. The masters thesis are: Some Aspects of Sexuality in Adolescents by doctor The members of the examining committee were doctor Rafael Corona Perez (president); doctor Maria E. Castillo Corzo (secretary), and doctor Orlando Morejón Pérez (member). They explained the legal aspects with regard to obtaining the Masters degree and emphasized the importance of this kind of educational exercises.
