The president of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament), Ricardo Alarcon, said that it is necessary to build a new world and a single Latin American nation, as dreamed of by independence hero Simon Bolivar. According to the Prensa Latina news agency, the Cuban official described the fact that the meeting is taking place in the plenary hall of the Ecuadorean National Assembly as appropriate. It is adorned with a mural painting by Oswaldo Guayasamin that "summarizes the image of our peoples, who have lived more than 500 years trying to find the path to freedom, human emancipation and justice."
