Suriname's Health Minister met Cuban Ambassador
Suriname, February 20, 2009 .Cuba's ambassador to Suriname Andres González Garrido met with Surinamese Health Minister, Celsius Waterberg, who thanked Cuba for its cooperation, which he assessed as very positive. During the meeting in Paramaribo held at the headquarters of the Public Health Ministry in Suriname they discussed about the work of the Cuban Medical Brigade, carried out by Cuban doctors to prevent diseases and promote health in this country.
The diplomat told Waterberg that the Cuban brigade members are willing to continue supporting Suriname's health authorities, in order to guarantee people's health.
Also participating in the meeting were the head of the Medical Brigade, Dr. Eddy A. Millán, and the brigade's epidemiologist, Dr. Rafael R. Corona.
The Cuban Medical Brigade in Suriname has so far seen over 54,000 patients at health installations in Paramaribo, the capital, as well as in health centers located in the country's coastal and forest areas. (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Surinam)
