Cubans celebrate in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines the Day of the Cuban Rebellion

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, July 26th, 2009. With the presence of the Vincentian Primer Minister, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves the Cuban Day of the Rebellion was celebrated in Argyle, Kingstown. Present also were the members of the Cuban Embassy, headed by the Cuban ambassador Olga Chamero Trias and all the Cuban Cooperants in that Caribbean Island. Also participating was the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yoel Perez Marcano.

The activity was presented by the Cuban Ambassador which mentioned the historical and political importance of such a Day, the sacrifices made by the Moncada Generation and their contribution to the final and real independence of the Island, on the First of January 1959.

The Cuban Ambassador also mentioned the international cooperation of her country, and specifically the cooperation with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She referred to the construction by Cuban specialist of the Diagnostic Center, that will be inaugurated next year, and the construction of the International Argylle Airport, also being done by Cubans. She recognized, the work done by the Cuban Medical Brigade, assigned to Districts and in the Milton Cato General Hospital. The Ambassador also mentioned the important work of the brigade of Operation Vision Now, and the contribution by other specialists such as engineers, topographers, who work with the Ministry of Public Works.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves in his warm and enthusiastic words mentioned the importance of the links existing between Cuba and Saint Vincent, referred to the political repercussion of the 26th of July in the Cuban history and in its future, and expressed the fundamental cooperation of Cuba with his country, present in the main projects of development of his country. The PM as usual thanked the Cuban Government and his people for the support he had always received from Cuba.

Dr Sonia Maria Gonzalez Vega read a communiqué in the name of all Cuban cooperants in Saint Vincent, ratifying their compromises with Fidel, Raul and with Cuba and their decision to continue giving to this country their best efforts. Also a video presenting the work done by the Cuban specialists was specially made and presented in the occasion.

At the end of the political activity the Vincentian authority of the Argyle International Airport offered a cocktail to the Cubans and Vincentians.(Cubaminrex- Embassy of Cuba, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines)
