Nicaraguan President Congratulates Cubans on July 26 Anniversary

CUBA, July 29, 2009. Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega highlighted the importance of the assault on the Moncada garrison in Santiago de Cuba, July 26, 1953, as a precursor of the triumph of the Cuban and Nicaraguan revolutions, the emerging of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas and of popular movements in Latin America.

The business attaché of the Cuban embassy in that Central American country, René Ceballo, passed on Ortega’s message to Cuban collaborators working in healthcare, educational and energy-related programs in this country and also to members of the Cuban embassy in Nicaragua, on the occasion of the July 26 celebrations in the island.

In statements posted in www.lavozdelsandinismo.com, Ceballo says the Cuban people have set an example of unity, resistance and braveness throughout all these years “always with the invincible and dear Commander in Chief Fidel Castro as guide and leader.”

The diplomat extolled the work of doctors, literacy campaign members and others who have boosted the image of Cuba, reports the website.

He mentioned in particular the outcomes of the Operation Miracle free eye care program through which Cubans have contributed to the recovery or improvement of the sight of nearly 2.5 million people, of which 55, 240 have received eye surgeries.
