INDIA, July 2, 2009. The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) - CPI (M) – issued a statement of condemnation to the coup d'etat against the legitimate President of Honduras, José Manuel Zelaya, as well as his forcible removal from his country. The CPI (M) assures that the forces acting behind the coup are associated with those who are opposed to the modification of the Constitution of that country in consonance with the wishes of the Honduran people. The party refers that the military raided the residences of the main members of the cabinet of the leader and in particular the Chancellor's Patricia Rodas; and it calls upon the International Community to reject this attack against the democracy and against the rights of the citizens of that country. This prestigious left organization requests that the necessary measures be taken to guarantee the return of Zelaya to his country and government, urging the UN to intervene.
