CUBA, June 8, 2009. Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque, vice president of the Council of State, and Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the ambassadors of the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and South Africa to Cuba, at formal ceremonies in which they presented their credentials. Also taking part at these events was Miguel A. Lazamares Puello, director of Protocol. José Manuel Castillo Betances, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Cuba, was accompanied by adviser-ministers Alberto Alexander Caamaño Acevedo, Elvira Castro Cabrera and Miledys Miosotis Arias Reyes. Present on behalf of Cuban were Hugo Ramos Milanés, deputy director of Protocol and Lieutenant Colonel Eliécer Rebollar de Cárdenas, chief of the Presidential Guard unit. Jean Víctor Geneus, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Haiti to Cuba, was accompanied by adviser-ministers Paul Harry Guichard and Pierre Max Charles. Present for Cuba were Serafín Gil Rodríguez, head of the Protocol Diplomatic and Special Affairs Office and Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Martínez Méndez, chief of the Presidential Guard unit. Phatse Justice Pitso, South African extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Cuba, was accompanied by counsellor Thandukwazy Nyawose, and Regionald Ananias Marimi and Erick Christwell Makhubela, first and second secretaries respectively. Present for Cuba were Ernesto Plasencia Escalante, Head of Ceremonies of the Protocol Department and First Lieutenant Israel Oris Echavarría, chief of the Presidential Guard unit. After each ceremony, the ambassadors and their delegations placed wreaths at the monument of José Martí.( Cubaminrex- Granma)
