Evo Morales Thanks Cuba and Venezuela for Literacy Assistance CUBA, March 23, 2009. Bolivian President Evo Morales thanked Cuba and Venezuela for their cooperation with his country during the opening of the post-literacy program in the locality of Chipaya, 388 kilometers South of La Paz, the country's capital. Morales also acknowledged the assistance given by international organizations such as UNESCO to begin the post-literacy campaign in Bolivia after the country was declared as a territory free from the scourge of illiteracy in December 2008. During a ceremony in Chipaya, Morales said that, for the Bolivian people, recovering their national identity was the best way to decolonize that South American nation. According to Prensa Latina news agency, the Bolivian leader added that this new program is the result of the new Political Constitution of the States which was recently approved. (Cubaminrex-ACN)
