In Cuba President of the National Assembly of Suriname

CUBA, November 4, 2009. The President of Suriname’s National Assembly, Slamet Somohardjo, now visiting Cuba, laid a wreath by the monument to Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti, located at Havana’s Revolution Square in this capital.

He also toured the Memorial named after Marti, the Granma newspaper reports.
Somohardjo had a meeting at the Department for International Relations of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and also met with Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon, with whom he spoke about topics of parliamentary interest.

The visitor’s agenda includes meetings with the commission for the attention of local organs of the People’s Power (Parliament) and at the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Investment, as well as visits to Havana’s Latin American School of Medicine and the Carlos J. Finlay Institute.

Somohardjo expressed his interest in knowing more about the life of Heroic Guerrilla Ernesto (Che) Guevara, whom he said he admired since he was very young. (Cubaminrex- ACN)
