Suriname, November 16 2009. Surinamese Health Minister Dr. Celsius Waterberg is in Cuba at the head of a delegation, to participate in the international event Global Forum, which will be held in Havana from 16 to 20 November 2009. The delegation consists of the Director of the Academic Hospital of Paramaribo, the Head of National Inspection of Nursing, and other officials and specialists of the Ministry of Health of the country. In addition to participating in the 2009 Global Forum, Minister Waterberg and the delegation will hold bilateral talks with Cuban health authorities The 2009 Global Forum focuses on incentives and new approaches to strengthen both social innovation a swell as technology for health and equity in health. Cuba offers cooperation in the field of health to Suriname, with a Medical Brigade under the framework of the Integral Health Program. Under this program more than 81,000 Surinamese patients have received health check ups since May 2007.
