Cuban and Bolivian Parliamentarians Discuss World Economic Crisis

CUBA, October 20, 2009. Cuban and Bolivian parliamentarians are discussing the impact of the current international economic crisis and possible actions to deal with it in a meeting underway in Havana.

Bolivian Omar Fernandez, head of his country’s delegation to the 3rd Cuba-Bolivia Inter-Parliamentary Meeting, said the current situation shows the necessity to change the world and achieve a real development of the people in harmony with nature.

Fernandez said this meeting is an opportunity to foster cooperation and solidarity between their governments and peoples, and highlighted Cuba and Bolivia’s common fight for social justice.

Likewise, he spoke out for Latin American integration and the building of a new society based on a more humane vision.

Meanwhile, Ramon Pez Ferro, president of the International Relations Commission of the Cuban Parliament, reaffirmed in the meeting the high political level of relations between the two countries and stressed the Cuban legislative body’s willingness to strengthen bonds with its Bolivian counterpart.

In addition to the analysis of the current international economic situation, the parliamentarians will analyze experiences on education, health and other fields, and they will discuss collaboration projects in these sectors.

The meeting began on Monday at Havana’s Palco Hotel and will be running until next Wednesday. (Cubaminrex- RHC-ACN)
