Belize, October 11th 2009. In the northern District of Orange Walk, the launching of a joint project for soil studies between Cuba and Belize was done with the cooperation of the Ministry of Sugar in Cuba. Present were over 200 belizean cane farmers, leaders of the sugar industry sector and of the Belize Sugar Cane Association. On the Cuban side the activity was attended by Cuban Ambassador to Belize Manuel Rubido and Roberto Gonzalez, specialist in the field. The soil studies is part of a trilogy of cooperation agreements signed between Cuba and Belize and will continue with the production of biological means for plague control and another for the multiplication of plants through modern technology. The project is a continuation of a first step was when Cuba donated 30 cane specimens for the improvement of the production in Belize.(Cubaminrex- Embacuba Belize.) |
