Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba visits Antigua and Barbuda

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA, December 15, 2010.- H.E Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Foreign Minister of Cuba paid a courtesy visit to Antigua and Barbuda today.
During his visit, he met with the Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, Dame Louise Tack, the Honourable Baldwin Spencer, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Lester Bird.

During a luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister, H.E Parrilla expressed warm greetings from President Raúl Castro Rúz, President of the Republic of Cuba, and expressed his country’s desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries. He indicated that Cuba and members of CARICOM needed to continue developing mechanisms that would further strengthen the cooperative relations that exists between Cuba and the region.

Prime Minister Spencer welcomed the Foreign Minister to Antigua and Barbuda, and expressed appreciation for the many projects and programs that have benefitted Antiguans and Barbudans in the areas of health, education, medicine, sports and culture. Prime Minister spoke about the importance of building alliances among countries of the Caribbean and his government’s commitment to the establishment of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States.
