President of El Salvador Receives Visiting Cuban Foreign Minister CUBA, December 7th, 2010.- The President of El Salvador Mauricio Funes offered a dinner in honor of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who concluded an official visit to the Central American nation on Tuesday. The two dignitaries discussed topics of bilateral interest, including projects for strengthened cooperation in the sectors of health, education, trade and culture. Rodriguez pointed to the good prospects for strengthened political, economic and commercial relations between our two countries. Shortly before departing, the Cuban foreign minister met with leaders of the ruling Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN). During his stay, the top Cuban diplomat also held talks with his Salvadorian counterpart Hugo Martinez. Bruno Rodríguez’ visit was the first of a Cuban Foreign Minister to El Salvador in the history of bilateral relations. The president of El Salvador visited Cuba last October 4. On that occasion, the two governments signed four cooperation agreements. One of Mauricio Funes’ first actions as President of El Salvador was to re-establish diplomatic relations with Cuba on June 1st, 2009. (Cubaminrex -RHC) |
