Daughter of Former Egyptian President Nasser to Visit Cuba


EGIPTO, January 23, 2010. - The youngest daughter of former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser will be arriving in Cuba Sunday for a 7-day visit. .

Sixty-two year-old Mona Gamal Abdel Nasser Hussein will tour places of historic and social relevance as well as tourist resorts. Under her father’s term in office, from 1956 to 1970, Cuba and Egypt maintained close ties.

Mona who resides in Spain will be accompanied by one of her nieces and some friends. She is eager to learn about Cuban life and enjoy the cultural and natural attractions the country has to offer.

Mona, the youngest of 3 siblings, met Cuban President Raul Castro on July 2009, in Egypt, as he was attending the 15th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement at the Sharm El-Sheikh resort. On that occasion, The Cuban President paid tribute to Nasser by visiting his mausoleum in Cairo. (Cubaminrex - RHC)
