I believe they have gained quite well. They have acquired skills that will enable them tackle their opponents with no fear,” he said. The Cuban further said: “There is a huge improvement on the part of individual pugilists. They have gained stamina; they are focused and are ready to go”. “I’m impressed by they way these young fighters follow instructions given to them. They have got burning desire to succeed and it has so far proved difficult for the technical staff to pick the best. We are in a dilemma,” he said. Hurtado said at least 56 boxers are currently undergoing sparing sessions that will enable him pick a cream of 22 boxers, who will later be placed in a permanent camp, where they will receive advanced drills ready for the Club Games. His focus is improving boxers’ endurance. Pugilists Joseph Martin and Seleman Kidunda also expressed optimism that the team will go places and win medals for the country in New Delhi. “I’m so happy for the team because it has become strong now than ever. We are tactically and technically well equipped to face any opponent,” said Martin.
