Cuban Collaborators in South Africa Collect Funds to Support the Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti

SOUTH AFRICA, February 22nd, 2010. Cuban collaborators working in South Africa in the health, construction and social development sectors, and the staff of the Cuban embassy accredited to the country decided to donate 5200 Euros raised among themselves, to support the humanitarian work that is being carried our by the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti, to assist the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit that Caribbean country last month.

This voluntary gesture serves as a reaffirmation of the solidarity with the Haitian people and the willingness to support the efforts to help them overcome that tragedy shared by the entire Cuban people. It is also in line with the example set by the collaboration given by our country to Haiti, for more than a decade, through the Health Comprehensive Program, the Miracle Operation, training of human resources, and other sectors such as agriculture, energy, fisheries, communications and education.
