Fifty five years of Diplomatic Relations between Cuba and Pakistan

PAKISTAN, February 4th, 2010. The Pakistan Observer newspaper echoes in its printed and online editions an article written by Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan on the celebration of 55 years of Political and Diplomatic Relations between Cuba and Pakistan this 2010. As recalled by the Cuban representative, the links established on October 28, 1955, offered Pakistan and Cuba the opportunity to enjoy growing and excellent bilateral relations, characterized by mutual respect, bilateral understanding, permanent interaction and consultation, and a high level of coordination in the multilateral arena. During all these years the two peoples profess to each other mutual feelings of admiration and friendship.

The Diplomat also pointed out in his essay that the presence in the affected areas of the 2,468 members of the Cuban Medical Brigade in the aftermath of the terrible earthquake that hit Pakistan on October 2005 and the solidarity and assistance provided by Pakistan to Cuba after being hit by three devastating hurricanes in 2008, are examples of the strong bond created between both Nations. He also found worthily mentioning the presence of more than 900 Pakistani students in Cuba, as a result of an offer of 1000 scholarships of Medicine from the Cuban Government.

The article published by The Observer is one out of several actions both countries prepare to engaged to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Diplomatic ties.(Cubaminrex – Embacuba Pakistan)
