Friendly Meeting of the Speaker of the Kenyan Parliament with Cuban Ambassador in Nairobi

KENYA, February 18th, 2010. The President of the Parliament of Kenya, Honorable Kenneth Otiato Marende, received the Cuban Ambassador in this country, Julio Cesar Gonzalez Marchante to whom he informed the decision to settle down a Parliamentary Committee of Solidarity with the purpose to strengthen the relations between the two parliaments and peoples of both countries.

The Honorable Marende recognized the fruitful talking had with his Cuban homologous and other local authorities on the occasion of his visit to the Island at the end of last year 2009 and remembered with emotion the encounter maintained with relatives of the Cuban Five antiterrorist fighters prisoners unjustly in US jails by more than 11 years, ratifying once again his solidarity in the internationally battle to achieve his Liberation.

The occasion allowed to review the development of the bilateral relations and to delineate actions to support the programs offered by Cuba to eradicate the illiteracy and to eliminate the negative effects of the malaria in the country.

In the middle of the friendly atmosphere that characterized the encounter, the head of the legislative commented with satisfaction to the Cuban diplomat the decision to open this year 2010 the Kenyan diplomatic Mission in Cuba. (Cubaminrex- Embacuba Kenya)
