The ceremony was celebrated in the Ministry of Communications and Technological Information and was headed by the Postal General Director and Telecommunications, Mr. Basuki Yusuf Iskandar, and the Ambassador of Cuba, Jorge León. They were present the Postal Deputy General Director and the Director a.i. of America of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Indonesian, and officials of the Department of Communications and Technological Information and the Diplomatic Attaché of the Cuban Mission, Mrs. Mayra Nieves. The Postal General Director and Telecommunications, Mr. Basuki Yusuf Iskandar, and the Ambassador of Cuba, Jorge León, canceled the commemorative postal stamp that presents the respective historic presidential palaces and the national monuments "Monas" in Jakarta and the Memorial "José Martí" in Havana, and friends shaking hands. In his speech, the General Director emphasized the strengthening of the bilateral relations and particularly the links of cooperation in the cultural, sports sectors and health, and thanked the active Cuban humanitarian aid when the tsunami of Band Aceh and the earthquake of Yogjakarta. Besides, it emphasized that in the 2008 both sides emitted a commemorative stamp in honor of the visit to Cuba of the President Sukarno and also highlighted that in the present year 2010 Cuba and Indonesia show the continuity of these links with the emission of commemorative stamp on the occasion of the half century of excellent bilateral relations. In his allocution, the Cuban ambassador emphasized that the ceremony for the launch of this commemorative stamp was performed in a very special date, on the eve of the new beginning of the War of Independence of Cuba on February 24, 1895, and took advantage to reiterate the gratitude by the traditional vote of Indonesia to the resolution that condemns the unjust blockade to Cuba for more than 50 years. Likewise, it emphasized the mutual emissions of commemorative stamps by the visit of the President Sukarno to Cuba and by the 50 anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations. Also, it stood out the celebrations of the Sessions of the Intergovernmental Commissions and announced the possibility to sign, during the VI Session that will be celebrated in Indonesia in the present year, a Memorandum of Understanding for the joint emission of stamps between the Ministry of Communications of Cuba and the Ministry of Communications and Technological Information of Indonesia.
