Cuba and South Africa celebrate Political Consultations

SOUTH AFRICA, July 29, 2010.- The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Ebrahim Ebrahim and the Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marcelino Medina lead in this capital the 8th Meeting of the Cuba-South Africa Consultative Mechanism, on the occasion of the visit of Mr. Medina to this African country.

The exchanges showed the climate of sincere dialogue that exist between both countries and the high level of coincidence on important issues of the regional agenda in Africa and Latin America, as well as in other significant themes of the current international situation. They also discussed the challenges that both countries face on domestic issues.

Both delegations analyzed the developments on the bilateral cooperation and the existing perspectives to expand the programs to new areas, especially in the field of trade and investments.

The head of the Cuban delegation thanked the vibrant support of President Jacob Zuma to the resolution adopted by the Summit of the African Union calling for the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
