Prime Minister from Grenada Thanks Cuba for its Solidarity CUBA, Mar 2, 2010. - Grenada’s Prime Minister Tillman Thomas said on Tuesday his country was grateful to Cuba for its solidarity, especially in the training of medical students on the island’s institutions. The head of state visited the Mario Reutilio Fleitas International Faculty to Train Nurses for the Caribbean, located on the outskirts of this city, and pointed out that medicine is a noble profession, significant for the peoples. Thomas, accompanied by the Health Minister from Grenada, Ann Peters, and other members of his delegation, toured the school, which has 15 classrooms and three labs with high technology, and where over 300 future graduates in Infirmary are now studying. Upon receiving her guests, Dunia Salas, dean of this Faculty, offered a detailed explanation on the center’s curricular and extracurricular activities and teaching practices and on the goal of the institution, which is the training of health professionals committed to mankind and to moral, ethical, aesthetical and cultural values. Studying in this faculty are youngsters from Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica and Grenada, from where 17 grant holders are coming. Before meeting with students, Thomas affirmed that his country and Cuba share very special bilateral relations and that it’s the wish of the two nations to continue strengthening them. The Prime Minister from Grenada arrived in Havana on Sunday for an official visit. He paid tribute to Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti at the memorial named after him located at the capital’s Revolution Square, and held official talks with President Raul Castro on Monday.
