Zambia, Cuba deals’ll better lives
ZAMBIA, March 1st, 2010. - CUBAN Ambassador to Zambia Carmelina Ramirez has said President Rupiah Banda’s last visit to Cuba was fruitful and a number of agreements were signed which her country was trying to implement.
Once implemented, the agreements will help improve the lives of the local people through boosting the operations of the health, education and other sectors of the economy.
Mrs Ramirez said her country would continue to help improve the lives of the local people through boosting the operations of the health and education sectors because of the good relationship that existed between the two countries.
Mrs Ramirez, who is in Kitwe at the invitation of the Rotary Club of Kitwe was speaking yesterday when she paid a courtesy call on Kitwe Deputy Mayor Chileshe Bweupe.
She said she was happy that the Rotary Club of Kitwe was involved in various activities of helping the vulnerable people in various communities in the city and beyond.
She said it was imperative that the Rotary Club of Kitwe, the local authority and other stakeholders joined efforts to supplement Government’s efforts of alleviating the suffering of the vulnerable people in communities.
“I must say that the relationship between Zambia and Cuba has been a long standing one and this is why Cuba has continued to provide support to the health, education and other sectors of the economy in Zambia.
“The last visit to Cuba by President Banda was very fruitful and a number of agreements were signed which my country is trying to implement,” Mrs. Ramirez said.
Mr Bweupe said he was grateful for the visit by Mrs. Ramirez because it showed that the relationship between the two countries was growing from strength to strength.
Mr Bweupe said the help that Cuba had been giving to Zambia in the health and education sectors was a true indication of a genuine and true friendship that existed between the two countries.
