Cuba Dennounces Lies of the Enemies of the Revolution

CUBA, May 27, 2010.- The United States has destined more funds to the media campaign
against Cuba that those given to Latin America since the times of the so-called Alliance for
Progress, said Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon on Thursday.

While addressing participants in the 2nd International Seminar of the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO), Alarcon denounced the considerable resources from the US federal budget devoted to discredit the Cuban Revolution.

Alarcon asked in which of the countries criticizing the island free medical attention is given to the entire population, without distinction.

What other nation withstands, for almost five decades, an inhuman economic, commercial and financial blockade that includes the banning of access to medicaments and hospital instruments?, he asked.

The President of the Cuban Parliament highlighted that politicians and journalists are so busy repeating anti-Cuban slogans that they can’t see what is happening under their nose, and exemplified with the deaths, as a consequence of hunger and preventable diseases, of many children who had the misfortune of not being born in Cuba.

Where were the media outlets now attacking us when the colonial forces surrounded the premises of Rio Piedras in the University of Puerto Rico?, he asked himself.

He mentioned the student strike that has been taking place for five weeks and includes the 11 premises of the Puerto Rican university.

On behalf of the National Assembly of the People’s Power of Cuba, Alarcon demanded solidarity with the young Puerto Ricans fighting this beautiful battle for education and culture. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
