Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez Meet in Havana

CUBA, November 10, 2010.- Leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met for nearly four hours on Tuesday afternoon in Havana.

During the conversation, Fidel and Chavez spoke about the first bilateral exchanges that led to the signing of the Cuba-Venezuela Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement in 2000 that has allowed both countries to consolidate their social, economic and political relations.

Fidel congratulated Chavez for his speech at Havana’s Convention Center on Monday during the main celebration for the tenth anniversary of the signing of the abovementioned agreement, where he was informed that the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) has been scheduled for April 2011.

Chavez said he was very happy to meet with Fidel again and referred to the work of Cuban and Venezuelan ministers that allowed both nations to re-launch the bilateral comprehensive cooperation agreement for the 2010-2020 period.

Both leaders exchanged opinions on the current international situation and noted that relations between Cuba and Venezuela are an example of fraternal relations between two revolutionary populations fighting for a better future for the world. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
