Lifting of the U.S. Blockade Demanded in Grenada.

GRENADA, 8 October 2010.- Angel Reigosa de la Cruz, Cuban Ambassador to Grenada demanded the lifting of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, at a Press Conference offered at the Cuban Embassy in St., George´s.

The Cuban Ambassador explained that next 26 October, Cuba will submit for the 19th time the Resolution titled: “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba” at the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Likewise, he noted that this policy of economic harassment against the island has maintained and been tightened with the current U.S. administration.

When asked why Cuba did not yield to U.S. pressures for internal changes on the island so that the U.S. could loosen the blockade, Reigosa answered that Cuba is a sovereign country, that is why it does not have to please the U.S government, and added that the blockade must be lifted without conditions.

The Press Conference was attended by GIS, MTV, GBN Channels as well as Channel 6 of the Grenadian television, and by the weeklies “Grenada Voice” and “Grenada Informer”.
The Cuban Ambassador’s remarks were fully broadcast by GIS and MTV Channels and partially by Channel 6 and GBN. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Granada)
