Raul Castro Presided Over Closing Session of Cuba-CARICOM Ministerial Meeting

The meeting focused on common problems and challenges facing the Caribbean region. Participants adopted a final declaration expressing the positions of Cuba and CARICOM on different international issues and a special declaration on the current situation in Haiti.

CUBA, September 18, 2010.- Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, chaired the closing ceremony of the Third Cuba-CARICOM Ministerial Meeting, which met yesterday in this capital.

President Raul Castro presided over the closing ceremony of the 3rd Cuba-CARICOM Ministerial Meeting, which was held September 16 in Havana.
The meeting focused on common problems and challenges facing the Caribbean region. Participants adopted a final declaration expressing the positions of Cuba and CARICOM on different international issues and a special declaration on the current situation in Haiti, which supports the reconstruction of that sister nation.

The Cuban President greeted participants and stressed the need to keep working to strengthen cooperation and solidarity among our countries.
Also attending the closing ceremony was Cuba´s First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura. (Cubaminrex-Juventud Rebelde)
