Cuban First VP Meets with UN General Assembly President

 

CUBA, June 29, 2009.-  Cuban First Vice-President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura met this Monday with UN General Assembly President Ali Abdussalam Treki who is in Cuba in an official visit.

In the meeting Machado Ventura and the UN official spoke of the main topics at the UN General Assembly which include the preparations for the High level Plenary Meeting, the UN role on the solution of the problems created by the economic world crisis, the international negotiations on climate change and the current Middle East situation, and the Palestinian issue.

They also discussed the Cuban resolution against the US economic,financial and commercial blockade on Cuba that is approved on yearly basis at the international organization Treki leads.

Accompanying the UN General Assembly President were his head of staff Asim Iftikhar Ahmad. On the Cuban part were present Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and other staff members for his Ministry. (Cubaminrex-Granma)
