Commemorated in Trinidad and Tobago the 50th Anniversary of the Victory of Playa Girón and condemned the acquittal of Luis Posada Carriles.
TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, April 17, 2011.- Organized by the Organizations of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba in cooperation with the Cuban Embassy, took place on 16 April a solidarity act with Cuba on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Declaration of the Socialist character of the Cuban Revolution and the victory at Playa Girón.
The event was attended by representatives of the Party Movement of Social Justice, of the organizations of solidarity with Cuba "Cuba Solidarity" and "Friends of Cuba, trade unions, members of the diplomatic corp accredited in Trinidad and Tobago, Cubans living in the island and the members of the Cuban Medical Brigade.
During the ceremony intervened Senator David Abdullah in representation of Movement of Social Justice, who read the message from his party to the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba ,Dr. Peter Vine, Secretary-General of the Organization "Cuba Solidarity", Peter Bourke, Vice-President of "Friends of Cuba, H.E. Maria Eugenia Marcano, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Professor Chamal Lall, from India, who is working as a visiting professor at the University of the West Indies.
All the participant sent messages of support to Cuba and its revolution, they stressed the historical significance of the victory of Playa Girón, they repudiated the acquittal of the terrorist Posada Carriles, as well as appreciated the contribution of our country to the economic and social development of developing countries through the scholarship program through which has been trained several young peoples. Was also highlighted the contribution of Cuba to the erradication of the shameful regime of apartheid in Africa.
From his part the Cuban Ambassador, after doing a recap of the epic of Playa Girón, denounced the double standard of the United States Government to shelter terrorist as Posada Carriles and keep prisoners the Cuban 5, expressed his appreciation for the solidarity support received over the years by various organizations of solidarity with Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago.
